The Lowa Adimula of Ile-Ife in Osun State, High Chief Abraham Adeyeye Adekola, has described the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi as a father who always pursues the growth of Ile-Ife, Yorubaland as whole and uplift whoever that comes his way.
The traditional ruler made this known while addressing guests at his 69th birthday ceremony held recently in Ile-Ife.
Oba Adekola said that Oba Ogunwusi is a philanthropist and father of fathers who always loves to see his people on top.
The monarch also appreciated the late Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade Olubuse II, saying Sijuwade trained and made him what he is today.
While appreciating God on life, Oba Adekola said: “I have travelled far and I am happy for what I achieved today, this is not my making, but God and my boss, the late Ooni Sijuwade because without him, I wouldn’t have become what I am today. From the position of Jaran to Lowa Adimula, it was like a policeman with the rank of Constable and promoted to the position of Inspector General. I give thanks to God Almighty, as well as my late parents.
Speaking on his saddest day, Oba Adekola said every day has been his happiest day while remembering the day four chiefs who were on the entourage of Oba Okunade Sijuwade died in a motor accident at Gwagwalada, Abuja.
The royal father also used the occasion to appeal to younger generations to work hard and develop the spirit of patience and honesty in whatever they are doing.
“Our younger ones should steer clear of crime and focus on self-development as crime, no matter how it is coloured, will never be the way out,” he said.
Speaking at the event, Abayomi Ekundayo Fabunmi, who described the Lowa Adimula as the most experienced traditional chief in Ile-Ife“Oba Adekola, being the most experienced custodian of culture, tradition and history of Ile-Ife, the cradle of Yoruba race, is an asset not only to Ile-Ife, but the whole of Yoruba race and by extension the entire world as far as culture and tradition are concerned.”
