A member of the Executive of the Niger Delta Students Union Government (NIDSUG), Dauda Femiola John, has called on all stakeholders to be involved in building educational sector in Ondo state.
John who is the National Public Relations Officer of NIDSUG, stated this during the final of the quiz competition organised by him for secondary schools in Akoko North West Local Government area of the state.
Speaking after the quiz competition where
Akoko Anglican Grammar School, Arigidi Akoko emerged as winner of the quiz competition, the organiser said government alone cannot undertake the responsibility of developing education.
Other winners included, Comprehensive High school Erusu-Akoko and Ajuwa Grammar school Okeagbe Akoko, took the second and third positions, respectively.
He said the need to give back to his community, interest in educational development and youth development spurred him to organise the quiz competition to build a better Akoko land and Ondo state, saying education remains key to nation building
He said ” I am happy to put this quiz competition together for students in this local government. It is part of my ways to give back to my community and contribute towards the development of education and youths in our communities.
“I believe that education is the key to a brighter future for our youth, and I will continue to do anything within my capacity to support the academic development of our students.”
The winner of the quiz competition, Akoko Anglican grammar school Arigidi Akoko won N50,000, the runner up of Comprehensive High school Erusu-Akoko N30,000 while Ajuwa grammar school Okeagbe Akoko won N20,000
Communities leaders and major stakeholders commended the organiser of the quiz competition describing it as a major steps towards encouraging students to engage with current events and enhance their knowledge, while some eminent personalities from the area have shown interest to collaborate with the organiser, Dauda Femiola John.
The quiz competition, which focused on general knowledge and ways in which we can look to the challenges of education is the area and commitment to promoting academic excellence and youth in the Akoko communities
The event was attended by eminent personalities from the various communities include, the Elesugbon of Esugbon land, Kabiyesi, Oba Muideen Hassan, founder of DAKA foundation, Dr. Kazeem Adesina Olasupo and Mr Ahmed Sanni and staff of the state’s ministry of education, science and technology.
