The governor of Ondo State, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, on Monday, approved the payment of arrears of salary the state government is owing the civil servants in the state.
This was contained in a statement issued and signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Segun Ajiboye, who said the gesture of the governor was part of his promises to always put smiles on the faces of workers in the state.
According to the statement, payment of the salary arrears will be paid before the Easter celebration while the government said he would commence payment of the arrears from August salary.
The statement read: “The state governor has directed that civil servants must be paid one month salary before Easter.”
“We know that our people are suffering, and I have decided that there is the need to put smiles on their faces. Therefore, I have decided that civil servants in the state should be paid their salary for the month of August before Easter.”
According to Ajiboye, Akeredolu had at his inauguration promised to ensure workers in the state get their salaries as at when due, a promise he has kept with the workers getting their salaries for the months of February and March.
