A traditional ruler in Ondo state, the Onijigba of Ijigba, Oba Ambassador Luyi Rotimi, has charged the newly reelected governors in the South West region to work with their colleagues in the region and work out means to develop the region beyond the dream of the late Premier of the defunct Western Region, Chief Obafemi Awolowo
The monarch who gave the charge in his congratulatory message to the governors on their reelection for another term of four years, said it was imperative of the governors to fulfill his electoral promises to the people of their respective states.
While praying to God to help them succeed to people’s expectations as well as the governor’s satisfaction and fulfilment, said good governance and civic responsibility should be given priority as the basic ingredients for development.
The statement said “I Oba, Rev.,Ambassador Luyi Rotimi, the Olujigba of Ijigba land heartily congratulates governors Babajide Sanwoolu of Lagos State and Seyi Makinde of Oyo State respectively on their remarkable, landslide and historical victories in the just concluded gubernatorial election.
“To Governor Sanwoolu, this win is not just a confirmation of your capacity for quality service delivery but also of historical testament that Lagos State is a strategic part of yoruba land and as such, no tribal manipulation or crisis will be allowed in the state.
“Engr.Seyi Makinde’s reelection is a mark of appreciation on his outstanding performance in his first term in office which is the good people of Oyo decided to give their overwhelming support to him to continue in his delivery delivery of quality leadership.
“We are proud to associate with the governor as an exemplary son of Akure Kingdom because the mother is a daughter of Akure and we believe that he will not deviate from the ethos of omoluabi which our people are known for so that he will conclude the transformational agenda of Oyo State”
He however, congratulated other politicians who emerged victorious in the last election and said “I equally wish to congratulate the winners of Ondo State House of Assembly election for Akure South Constituency, Otunba Johnson Oguntodu, Stephen Abitogun, Mr Kolawole Ologede and Tope Komolafe for the hard-fought convincing victories.
IQ am aware that your election has been made possible because of your determination and consistency of many years and I am in no doubt that you will not disappoint the people for electing you both as their representatives.
“I am using this medium to charge you all,not to misuse the mandate freely given to you by the electorate.Make it a vow to leave an indelible footprint on the sand of time with this opportunity you have to serve the people.
