‘Oldest man’: How Nollywood stars reacted to Agbako’s death

Nollywood actors have taken to social media to react to the news of the death of veteran actor, Charles Olumo Sanyaolu, popularly known as Agbako.

Tribune Online reports that the actor, who was born on February 25, 1923, died on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at the age of 101.

The death of the Centenarian, who passed away after taking a nap and complaining of slight tiredness, has continued to spark reactions among Nollywood actors who have taken to social media to mourn him. 

Reacting to the death on Instagram, popular actor, Kunle Afod wrote, “Good night pa Charles Olumo (baba Agbako). The oldest actor. 101 years. Sun re 00o. O dabo. O di Oju Ala.

Another actor, Owolabi Ajasa, reacted to the death and described the late actor as the oldest person in the Nigerian entertainment industry. 

He wrote,”SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!!! This is to announced the EXIT OF THE OLDEST MAN in the Entertainment Industry CHIEF CHARLES OLUMO aka

Agbako who joined his forefathers earlier hours of today at the age of 101…. Thanks. Adieu Baba Charles!!! Agbako SUN RE 000000!!!Good night Baba… May your soul Rest in peace..”

“Rest on Baba wa❤️” Adeniyi Johnson posted. 

Joining others to mourn the death, Foluke Daramola wrote, “Baami ti lo.”

Odunade Adekola posted, “RIP Baba.”

Agbako, a cherished figure in the Yoruba film industry, is now remembered as the oldest actor in Nigeria’s film sector. His life spanned over a century and left a lasting legacy on Nigeria’s cultural heritage.
