The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Governing Board has appealed to the Plateau Government to complete the permanent orientation camp it built in the state.
The board made the appeal on Tuesday in Jos when its members paid a courtesy call on Gov. Simon Lalong.
The leader of the delegation of the board, Binta Mu’azu, also appealed for the expansion of the multi-purpose hall of the camp.
“The orientation camp in the state is without accommodation for officials and Orientation Broadcasting Service.
“This has made it difficult for our staff to perform functions, Muazu said.
She, however, commended the government for ensuring the safety of corp members in the state, among other laudable gestures.
She also urged Gov. Lalong to constitute the State NYSC Governing Board to ensure the smooth operations of the scheme in the state.

Responding, Lalong promised to immediately look into the request of the board to create a conducive atmosphere for staff and corps members while in camp.
He also said that his administration would continue to work for peace.
“What we first did was to ensure that everyone is safe because when I was elected, corps members were no longer coming to the state, because of insecurity.
“Now corps members want to be transferred from other states to Plateau because of the return of peace to the state.
“I apologise for what we have not done, but now that you have come, we will do our best.
“We will make the coaster bus I promised sometimes ago, available to you to ease your movements,” he added.
