The Director-General (DG) of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim has reiterated the commitment of the Federal Government in ensuring the safety of all Corps members across the country during the service year.
He also reaffirmed the commitment of the NYSC management to the security and general welfare of the Corps members noting that the scheme engaged in constant liaison with security agencies and other stakeholders with a view to ensuring their safety as well as addressing other essential needs for a fulfilling service year.
The DG also charged the Corps members to embark on community development services in order to uplift the living standard of the people of their host communities.
The NYSC DG gave the charge on Tuesday during the closing ceremony of the three weeks orientation course for the 2021 batch B, stream II Corps members posted to Yobe state.
Shuaibu Ibrahim who was represented by the Yobe State NYSC Coordinator, Hajiya Hafsat Yerima, stated that the entire nation looks up to the youths for their expected roles in advancing the unity and development of the fatherland.
“I, therefore, enjoin you to sustain the spirit of patriotism, hard work and resilience, which you have imbibed during the orientation course. Soon after this ceremony, you will receive your postings to places of primary assignment. I urge you to accept posting to any location and in good faith and perform your duties with diligence,” he stressed.
The DG then said that “Furthermore, I enjoin you to add value to the communities by undertaking personal and group community development service projects that will uplift their living standards.”
