National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has denied the purported dissolution of the executive of the Kwara state chapter of the organization under the leadership of Comrade Alli Nasiru Yusuf.
In a letter dated September 30, 2024, written to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara state, the national president of the NYCN, Ambassador Sukubo Sara-Igbe, debunked and dissociated the national headquarters of the organization from such activity.
The statement, signed by the National Secretary of the NYCN, Abubakar Suleiman, affirmed that Comrade Alli Nasiru Yusuf remained the authentic chairman of the NYCN, Kwara state chapter, adding that his state council remained valid.
“The National Executive Council of this apex youth organization and the umbrella body for all youths and youth organizations in Nigeria has been drawn to the purported dissolution of the executive of Kwara state chapter of this noble organization, and we the National Executive Council hereby debunk and dissociate the National Headquarters from such by Comrade Mukhtar Akoshile”.
The National Council secretary explained further that the management meeting held in August in Port Harcourt, Rivers State had resolved that all congresses should be on hold till November 2024.
The statement said, “That the bearer of the name Com. Mukhtar Akoshile is the Vice President North Central of this current Executive Council and does not in any way have the constitutional capacity to write such letter or issue such directive, as only the Secretary under the directive of the President can do such”.
The National Headquarters also urged the state governor and other relevant stakeholders to continue their smooth working relationship with the current state executive of Comr. Alli Nasiru Yusuf as the National headquarters would officially inform the Congress of the new executive.
“We, the National Executive Council of the National Youth Council of Nigeria under the leadership of Ambassador Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, hereby urge your Excellency to continue your smooth working relationship with Comr. Alli Nasiru Yusuf and his executive, as we will officially inform you when Kwara State Congress to elect new Executive will be held”.
