Managing Director, NIPCO, Mr Sanjay Teotia, who gave the assurance while presenting LPG accessories to public school administrators under the aegis of Apapa Local Education Authority and some head teachers in Lagos, said it was one of the conscious ways of encouraging use of gas as domestic cooking fuel.
The presentation of the items which included gas cylinders and burners took place at the company’s premises in Apapa, Lagos.
Mr Sanjay noted that it was not the first time the company was presenting free gas accessories to the populace, citing the Auchi and Apapa communities offer in previous years as part of the organisation’s attempt to boost gas usage among the populace.
He also hinted that more efforts would be made in the area for skids deployment to stations across the country to facilitate cooking gas access by the people in tandem with Federal Government’s drive to promote use of gas as domestic cooking gas.
Mr Sanjay noted that with the technical commissioning of the largest LPG plant in NIPCO’s Apapa terminal, the company was poised for more seamless operation in the storage and distribution of gas across the nooks and crannies of the country.
According to him, cooking gas is safe and economical to use compared with other domestic cooking fuels, adding that safety has remained a cardinal principle of the organisation at any point in the storage and distribution of gas at its LPG plant.
He disclosed that hundreds of skids are being mounted at its branded stations, as well as its newly acquired 11 Plc (formerly Mobil Plc) and that very soon gas users would begin to enjoy better access to the product at very competitive rates.
He emphasized that with the punch line of the company “Think cooking gas! Think Nipco gas!!,” the company would be relying on its brand uniqueness as a reference point in the downstream industry to increase our size of the LPG business.
He assured that issue of under dispensing or any sharp practices in the process of gas dispense would not be allowed to rear its ugly head with the creation of a unit in the retail division to take care of such issues.
One of the beneficiaries, Comrade Olayinka Emmanuel, said the donation was a commendable one stressing that the company has performed wonderfully well despite its short period of existence.
Comrade Olayinka who is also the Nigeria Union of Teachers Vice Chairman, Lagos State, described the NIPCO facility as being excellent with high sense of safety consciousness and great potentials to excel in the nation’s oil and gas industry.
