Niger State Government has commended the Federal Government over its tremendous assistance and support, to curtail the resurgence of armed banditry challenges and the recent Boko Haram elements illegal activities in the State.
Governor Abubakar Bello stated this on Sunday in Minna the State Capital, during a special prayer session for God’s intervention to bring an end to the insecurity challenges that have bedevilled parts of the state in particular and Nigeria in general.
The Governor stated further that with the renewed zeal amongst the security agencies in the country and the support of the Federal Government, the security, he expressed the hope that the challenges in the state will soon be over.
The Niger State Governor, recently announced the presence of Boko Haram elements in Kaure community in Shiroro local government area of the state and the hoisting of the flag of the terrorist group, in addition to the forceful taking over of housewives from their husbands and distribution to their Commanders in the area.
Governor Sani Bello thereby enjoined every Nigerlites to remain calm as the state has received tremendous support from the Federal Government, highlighting, that with the present support from the President Muhammadu Buhari- led administration at the Centre and the new confidence being exhibited among the security agencies and their personnel, stressing that the internally displaced persons (IDPs) were gradually returning to their respective communities in the troubled local government areas of the state, to continue with their lawful businesses.
“I am calling on the people to be calm. In the last 48 hours, we have received a lot of support with regards to security agents from the Federal Government; I believe they are mobilizing themselves.
“I am very confident with the zeal I can see from the security agencies, I believe everyone will soon be back to their homes and farms,” he said.
Governor Abubakar Bello explained that some of the recently displaced persons have returned to their ancestral homes while others have been relocated close to their homes.
He expressed hope that with the special prayers and all the measures taken so far by the government, insecurity issues will end soon.
Meanwhile, the Chief Imam of Minna Central Mosque, Mallam Ibrahim Isah Fari led the group of Ulamas and other Muslim adherents in the prayers.
