A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State, Kabiru Aliyu, has described the decision of the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) to deploy soldiers to the Niger Republic as a wrong decision.
Aliyu who was one of the aides to the immediate past administration of Aminu Waziri Tambuwal in the state, while speaking with our correspondent on Thursday evening in Sokoto said the decision will affect the safety of lives of Nigerians living in the border area.
“It’s unfortunate and will be disastrous for Nigeria, hope it will be executed within a month or less anything short of that will justify our worst fears, I am sorry for this thoughtless government
“Honestly, this is a very wrong decision taken by Ecowas, it seems they didn’t consider the lives of our people living in the border state as well as those in Niger Republic.
“Nigeria will suffer more if it leads to a major war unless it is going to be a short one that they will only enter their and pick the leadership of the military.
“If it leads to extended war, my brother we will suffer more for this, especially the Northerners who are the immediate neighbors of the people of Niger Republic,” he added.
