The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in Minna, Niger, has commenced the training of 20 youths under Community Based Business Training Scheme (CBBTS) to be self-employed and reliant.
The Niger State Coordinator of NDE, Mallam Mohammed Dantsoho Abubakar stated this during the flag-off ceremony of the programme in Minna, adding that the scheme was aimed at taking training in some selected communities.
Dantsoho Abubakar stated further that this will ensure adequate monitoring, especially by the beneficiaries’ parents and guardians for effective and efficient service delivery devoid of abscondment.
He explained further that the 20 participants were undergoing their various skills acquisition programmes at three centres where master trainers were posted in Soka Kahuta community of Minna, Niger State capital.
The state Coordinator, further disclosed that the trainees will go through a week-long vigorous business training after their three months training in tailoring, shoe making, and aluminum cuttings, with monthly N5,000 stipends for transport faires and will be entitled to N25,000 each to set up their businesses on completion of the training programmes.
