THE leadership of Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society (NASFAT) has expressed sadness over the death of the president of the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN), Alhaji Sakariyau Babalola, on Wednesday.
NASFAT president, Alhaji Kamil Bolarinwa, in a statement signed by the organisation’s publicity secretary, Alhaji Banji Busari, described Babalola who was also the Deputy President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) (South), as a pillar of support for Islam.
He stated that the late businessman was compassionate about the religion and was always willing to meet any demand relating to Islam and the Muslim community.
“Owing to his exemplary leadership qualities as the pioneer president of the Muslim Ummah of the South West Nigeria, Islam grew tremendously and rapidly in the South West.
“His tenure promoted unity, harmony and development among the Islamic stakeholders in the country,” Bolarinwa said.
He said Babalola would be remembered for benefitting Muslims and non-Muslims as well as Islamic organisations across the country with his philanthropy.

He commiserated with the entire ummah; the President-General of the NSCIA, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto; MUSWEN, the deceased’s family and the Osun State government on “the loss of this great Nigerian and a worthy ambassador of Islam.”
“While we mourn the passage of this great icon, we enjoin the stakeholders to emulate the sterling qualities of the deceased through which he endeared himself to many. NASFAT equally advise that the successor of this great icon in his positions should be meticulously selected.
“We pray Almighty Allah to accept the repose of his soul, grant him Aljannah Firdaos and grant the bereaved the strength to bear the loss,” he added.
