THE Rector of The Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa, Nasarawa State, Professor Shettima Abdulkadir Saidu, has said that the institution is mapping out plans to train Nigerians on railway technology and also adopt Information Communication Technology (ICT) in the institution’s learning system.
Prof Saidu disclosed this to newsmen on Friday, at Akwanga Local Government Area of the state after a 4-day retreat organised for management of the institution to appraise the standard of the institution among comity of polytechnics.
According to the rector, the institution is also mapping out plans to run other courses such as Agricultural technology, mechtronics, and boost the learning process of the institution through ICT.
He explained that the ICT mode of learning would be blended with the conventional learning system adding that, it would aid research and equip the institution’s library with materials that are not within reach.
Prof Saidu further said that, the projects, which would run into billions of naira, would be categorised into small, medium and long term, which would be achieved within the next five years.
He disclosed that, the institution is envisaging sourcing the funds for the projects from the Federal Government, private sector and donor bodies.
The Rector also said that plans are at advanced stage to commence Higher National Diploma in departments that have not been able to run the programme.
