Eight students of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Nasarawa State, have regained freedom from their abductors.
The Nigerian Tribune recalls that gunmen on the night of Wednesday, December 6, had kidnapped some students in the Gandu community near the institution.
Confirming the release to the Nigerian Tribune through a telephone chat on Monday in Lafia, Abubakar Ibrahim, Head of Information and Public Relations of the institution, said eight of the students were released around 8:00 pm on Sunday, December 10.
Mr Ibrahim added that all the students were reunited with their families for counselling.
In collaboration with the state government and law enforcement agencies, the spokesperson also mentioned that the institution had beefed up security in and around the university to curtail future occurrences.
Also, Mr. Hassan Kassimu, Head of the Gandu community where the students were kidnapped, said they were moved to the university Medical Centre for examination.
