Nasarawa Deputy Governor urges youth participation in governance

THE Deputy Governor of Nasarawa, Silas Agara has called on youths in the country to participate in governance to ensure optimum productivity.

Agara made the call on Saturday in Keffi, at the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) 2017 Peace and Security Summit tagged “Reviewing Nigerian Students Role for Sustainable Peace and Security”.

The deputy governor who was represented by Alhaji Abdulhameed Kwara, the state Commissioner of Information, Culture and Tourism said for you youths to brace up to the task of governance, they must shun violence and other social vices.

He said the state government would partner NANS in entrenching peaceful coexistence in the society and encouraging diplomatic conflict resolution especially among the youths in the society.

“As a peaceful loving government, we share in the ideals of this summit where young men and women come together to find lasting solutions to the security challenges bedevilling this country.”

“We consider it wise to come together to ponder on the security challenges facing our country with a view to creating awareness. I commend your initiative which is your demonstration of patriotism to seek to work with government to achieve peace and security in our country,” he said.

On his part, the Assistant Secretary of NANS Sunday Ochiba Ogbu, who is the organiser of the summit said, the essence of the summit was to conscientise youth on the its role in ensuring security and peace as well as participating in governance.
