NAHCON chairman seeks collaboration ahead 2024 Hajj

The Chairman/CEO, National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Malam Jalal Ahmad Arabi, on Tuesday, sought the cooperation and support of state pilgrims welfare boards/agencies/commissions in the task ahead of the Hajj body, particularly ahead of the 2024 Hajj.

Arabi sought the support at a meeting with the chairmen and secretaries of the boards/agencies/commissions ahead at the Hajj House, Abuja.

According to the NAHCON boss, success could only be achieved if there was collaboration between the Hajj body and the states and work as partners in progress.

“We can only achieve success if we work as partners. I therefore extend my hands of fellowship,” Arabi said.

While saying that there will not be new policies, the chairman said all hands had to be on deck with a view to ensuring success in the tasks ahead.

“There will be no new or strange policies. We will ensure that the renewed hope we came with translates into action,” he assured.

The chairman declared that mistakes noticed in the past would be corrected, and emphasised the need for perfection both in Hajj operation and performance.

“We are lucky to observe that there were mistakes that should be corrected. There are always room for improvement.

“Hajj is probably the only pillar of Islam that if one get right will return like the day they were born,” the NAHCON boss told the state chairmen and secretaries.

In view of this, Arabi said, “much is expected not just from those who appointed us, but also the entire Muslim Ummah.”

As preparations are already in top gears, Arabi, therefore, urged the state officials to ensure that they serve their well, sating that “the pilgrims are not just served but served well.”

The chairman had earlier appreciated the overwhelm solidarity shown by all on his appointment by President Bola Tinubu.

According to him, the tremendous show of solidarity and felicitations from the state chairmen and secretaries and others showed that much was being expected from him.

He asserted that the solidarity has, no doubt, put him on his toes in order to make everyone proud.

While assuring that he would not disappoint, Arabi said there would not be any disparity between NAHCON and the states, submitting that before being appointed as NAHCON CEO, he had never drawn a line between Hajj body and the states.

“We are meant to all serve one purpose even though we represent different spaces and environments,” Arabi submitted.
