When the matter was called yesterday, Wale Balogun who represented Raji in the court, informed the trial Judge, Justice John Tsoho that the lead counsel travelled abroad for medical treatment.
Prosecution Counsel, Johnson Ojogbane did not oppose the submission of the defence and the request for adjournment, but however pointed out that the prosecution wants a quick determination corruption case hanging on the neck of the former aviation minister.
Ojobane prayed the court for a date in July before the court goes on vacation.
Justice Tsoho, after the information on the absence of the lead defence counsel on the ground of ill-health and the request for adjournment, slated July 7, 2017 for the continuation of trial.
Earlier, the first witness called by the prosecution, Victor Ehiabhi had told the court, when led in evidence that Fani-Kayode got N26 million from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
Recalled that the EFCC had on November 11, 2016, arraigned Fani-Kayode on a five-count charge involving alleged diversion of N26 million which he allegedly received from the then National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Mohammed Sambo Dasuki (retd), under the guise of payment for contract.
The ex-minister allegedly received the money from the Office of the National Security Adviser while he was the Director of Media and Publicity in the campaign organisation of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Fani-Kayode however pleaded not guilty to all the five-count charge.
