Motor accident: COAS commiserates with troops

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya on Friday commiserated with troops who involved in a ghastly motor accident at Garin Kuturu, along with Maiduguri-Damaturu road Borno State on Thursday.

This was contained in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja by Director Army Public Relations, Brig-Gen Onyema Nwachukwu.

The statement said that the troops were involved in the accident while responding to a distress call in the troubled area.

It explained that one of the gun trucks conveying the troops skidded off the road and rammed into a road shoulder, causing the vehicle to somersault.”

He said, nine personnel who sustained varying degrees of injury in the accident have been evacuated and were currently receiving medical attention in a military medical facility.

According to him, no fatality was recorded in the accident.

He added that Gen. Yahaya lauded the troops for their swift response and urged them to be more circumspect during emergency operational responses.
