THE Commander Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) of the Nigeria Military, Maj Gen Adeyemi Yekini, on Monday, disclosed that troops of the operation killed three gang members of the most wanted militia leader, Terwase Akwaza, alias Gana.
Gen. Yekini who stated this at the Tactical Air Command Makurdi, headquarters of the operation, said the three men were killed during a gun battle with troops at Zaki Biam town in Ukum LGA of the state.
Recall that Gen Yekini had two days ago told Journalists in Makurdi that OPWS troops have killed wife of the suspected militia leader, Terwase Agwaza, also known as ‘Gana’, and 12 of his members at Sai, Katsina/Ala local government area of Benue State in a gunfight between the suspected militia and the personnel of ‘Operation Whirl Stroke’, OPWS.

He revealed that the troops in Zaki Biam, Sunday night got a distress call that parts of Zaki Biam town were under attacks by Gana men and his men swiftly responded leading to the death of three of the gang members.
According to him ” troops stationed around Ukum LGA axis received a distress call that Gana and his boys have entered Zaki Biam town and besieged parts of the town, killing and destroying people’s properties.
“Our men swung into action and in the process, the troops neutralised three of their gang members during exchange of gunfire. We also recovered two weapons and ammunition”.
