The Comptroller of Customs, Adamawa and Taraba states command, Comptroller, Graba Bashir has advised smugglers to look for a more dignified business than the one they are currently engaged in.
Comptroller Garba Bashir who gave the advice at a press briefing in Yola today, said his command is determined to flush out smugglers and smuggling activities in the states
Comptroller Bashir said his anti-smuggling unit while on patrol at the Mubi- Belle border axes in the last two weeks intercepted and sized petroleum motor spirit (PMS) that was about to be snuggled into neighbouring country in Cameron
According to the Comptroller, the Petrolatum product seized is put at Duty paid value (DPV ) at over N10.8 million naira.

” Though no suspect was arrested, our men were able to intercept and arrest the product packed in 491 25kg Jerry cans as well as the means of conveying the products, a motorcycle and a Mitsubishi van.
While advising smugglers to look for a better legal business to engage in, he said “Smuggling activities had done more harm than good to the nation, it hinders our national growth, smuggling activities are often connected to illicit activities such as money laundering, terrorism, financing of human trafficking which disrupts national security and rule of law”
He added that the success recorded within his two weeks in charge would not have been possible without the support of the CGC, Adewale Adenitis, the media and the sister security agencies.
He also called on the general public to always give information when necessary.
