Liaison Officer, Diaspora Student Affairs Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Student Engagement, Dr Opeoluwa Ojekemi, has lauded NANS Coordinator, Southwest Zone, Alao John, over the launch of the website for anonymous student reports.
In a statement made available to Tribune Online on Friday, Ojekemi appreciated the outgoing NANS Southwest coordinator for the successful launch of the pioneer website for anonymous student reports and congratulated him for the successful completion of his tenure.
According to him, the newly launched website will help the students report cases of oppression, harassment, or any form of injustice.
Adding that the platform will give Nigerian students confidential space to report issues without fear of reprisal.
He commended the outgoing zonal coordinator for his dedication to student welfare and leadership while in office, which, according to him, have been instrumental in advancing the interests of Nigerian students.
He said, “I extend my sincere congratulations to the Coordinator of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Southwest in person of Comrade Alao John for the groundbreaking initiative of launching a website that allows Nigerian students to anonymously report cases of oppression, harassment, or any form of injustice.
“This platform is a critical tool in ensuring that students, who may be hesitant to approach their school authorities due to fear of not receiving justice, now have a safe and reliable avenue to voice their concerns.
“I also use this medium to congratulate you for the successful completion of your tenure. Your dedication to student welfare and leadership have been instrumental in advancing the interests of Nigerian students.
“The creation of this website is a testament to the coordinator’s commitment to fostering a supportive and just environment for all students. It empowers students by giving them a confidential space to report issues without fear of reprisal, thus promoting accountability and transparency within our educational institutions.
“While we declare support for this initiative and recognise it as a significant step forward in the protection and advocacy of student rights across the country. We encourage all students to make use of this platform and trust that their voices will be heard and their issues addressed.
“Once again, we congratulate the NANS Southwest Coordinator on a successful tenure and on this laudable achievement. We look forward to continued collaboration in ensuring the welfare and rights of Nigerian students are upheld,”, the statement read.
