Layi B, born Buraimoh Olayiwola, keeps his momentum going with new track titled, “Sugar Daddy”, From the first beat, “Sugar Daddy” announces itself as a track designed for easy replay. The production, courtesy of Dinho and Timixzy, is clean and upbeat, wrapping the song in a breezy, feel-good energy. Layi B delivers his verses with effortless cool, settling into a groove that makes the track instantly appealing.
Jaido P, quick-witted and assured, enters the song with a confident and convincing Rap flow, adding a layer of charisma that elevates the track. While Sugar Daddy leans into themes of money, a particular girl, and the good life, there’s a slight twist in the storytelling. Despite having plenty of admirers, he’s focused on one particular girl, giving the song a more personal touch. The chorus, with its “I go be your sugar sugar sugar” backed by a soft female vocal layer, adds an extra dose of sweetness.
That said, the production does a lot of the heavy lifting, keeping the song afloat with its well-layered kicks and polished mix. It’s clear that Layi B knows how to craft a track that fits neatly within Afropop’s current wave. “Sugar Daddy” is fun, but it’s also safe—enjoyable in the moment, yet hinting at the need for more daring choices in the future.
