The Lagos State government has postponed all exams being organised for primary six pupils to gain admission into the state model colleges and other public secondary schools in the state.
It also postponed the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) being conducted as a terminal exam for students in junior secondary schools.
The Permanent Secretary of the state Ministry of Education, Mrs Adebunmi Adekanye, made the announcement in a statement made available to newsmen by the deputy director of the Public Affairs unit of the ministry, Mr Adesegun Ogundeji, on Friday.
She said the postponement was necessary because of the inability of many schools and private individuals to fill their e-application forms correctly.

While appealing to pupils and their parents for understanding on the development, Adekanye said new dates for all the exams, scheduled earlier for between Monday, June 3rd and July 13th would be announced later.
She explained that the state’s examination board, which is saddled with the responsibility of conducting these exams and now adopted e-registration (against the age-long manual) system had complained that information submitted by many applicants were conflicting.
She said the exam board replaced the manual registration with electronic registration this year to further frustrate the activities of those who serve as middlemen to extort unsuspecting parents.
According to her, the board will use the shifting period to correct the anomalies and bring all candidates on board for easy and smooth exams.
