The Lagos State government team led by the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Alli-Balogun on Monday, paid a condolence visit to commiserate with the parents of David Babadipo, an SS 1 student of Araromi Ilogbo Senior Secondary School, Oko-Afo, Badagry, who was allegedly flogged to death by his teacher last Thursday.
The commissioner during the visit, expressed sadness over the demise of the young promising 16-year-old student, assuring his parents of the ministry’s support and cooperation with the police in unravelling the circumstances surrounding their son’s death.
According to a statement made available to newsmen by the head of the public affairs unit of the ministry, Mr Ganiu Lawal, the team also visited the school premises that comprise four different schools and addressed the teachers, who felt traumatised by the unfortunate incident and the violent protest that greeted the incident a day after.
The commissioner was accompanied on the visit by the Chairman of Olorunda Local Council Development Area, Mr. Samson Olatunde; the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Abayomi Abolaji; the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary Education District II, Mrs. Anike Adekanye and the Commissioner IV in the Lagos State Teaching Service Commission, Mrs. Idowu Abimbola.
