Kwara Speaker promises reconstruction of Kaiama-Baruten road

Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, has said road linking Kaiama- Kpura through Kosubosu, Baruten local government headquarters will be opened up to connect local government areas in the Kwara North senatorial district.

Speaking while meeting with the Emir of Kaiama, Alhaji Sheu Omar Muazu, in his palace, before proceeding to assess the current state of the road, the Speaker said the road has suffered years of neglect despite its cultural and economic significance to Kaiama-Baruten communities and Kwara state as a whole.

“We are concerned about the socioeconomic wellbeing and security of people of Kaiama – Baruten and we know opening up the road will address the challenges in these regards and that is why we have come to see things for ourselves”, he said.

The legislator, who said the road will be bulldozed as succour to communities on that axis, assured the Emir and people of Kaiama-Baruten of swift consideration and approval for the road project by the present administration.

Commenting on Kishi-Kaiama road, the Speaker said: “efforts are in the pipeline to fix it by Governor Abdulrazaq administration, notwithstanding the N1.2billion claimed to have been expended on it by the immediate past administration”.

He also said that the two lawmakers from the Kaiama local government are representing their constituents well by pressurizing leadership of House of Assembly and the governor over plights of their people.

The member representing Kaiama/Kemanji/Wajibe constituency, Hon. Halidu Danbaba had earlier said that the current administration in its strides to ensure dividends of democracy permeates nooks and crannies of the state is ready to knot the socio-cultural ties between Kaiama and Baruten local government people through connection of the linkage road.

The Emir of Kaiama, His Royal Highness, Sheu Omar Muazu in his response, expressed the hardship inflicted on the people of Kaiama and Baruten local governments, noting the incessant kidnappings in the area is as a result of the bad state of the road.

He prays Allah gives the Governor and present administration wisdom and will power to execute the projects for the greater good of generality of Kwarans, while also assuring the present administration maximum support to ensure it succeed.

The lawmakers in the company of the Commissioner for Works and transport later proceeded to inspect dilapidating bridges on Kaiama – Kemanji road, which is at the verge of collapse and equally, visited the Kewozi of Wajibe, Alh. Hon. Ahmed Ibn Mohammed who also lamented the insecurity the state of the roads has enabled in recent times.

The Commissioner for Works and Housing – Rotimi Iliasu assure the people of the community to find solution to the two bridges inspected, to avoid being cut off from the rest of Kaiama local government.
