The Kogi State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed a former Chief Judge of the State, Justice Henry Olusiyi as Chairman of the State Anti-Corruption Commission.
Justice Olusiyi was screened at a plenary sitting of the House following his nomination by the state Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo.
Justice Olusiyi in his submission to questions asked by the Lawmakers during the screening, promised to bring his wealth of experience to bear in the discharge of his duties alongside other members of the Commission without fear or favour.
He commended Governor Ahmed Ododo for taking the bold step of establishing the Commission to address cases of corruption in the state promising to justify the confidence reposed in him.
Speaker of the House, Right Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, who presided over the Committee of the whole sitting, charged the new appointee to work hard and bring his wealth of experience to bear in his new assignment.
It would be recalled Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo on Tuesday sent a letter to the House seeking approval and confirmation of the nominees and two others.
The Governor, in the letter, had nominated Dauda Onimisi Bello who is being considered for the position of Director of Operations and Dr Tseija Azubuju Seidu, Director of Administration alongside the former CJ for screening and confirmation.
The House, however, slated Dauda Onimisi Bello and Dr. Tseija Azumju Seidu for screening at another date.
