As the Kebbi State government prepares to celebrate its third year in administration, officials have announced that they have invested N7.13 billion in the supply and installation of solar-powered streetlights over the past three years.
This initiative aims to enhance security and improve urban infrastructure.
The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Alhaji Hayatuddeen Ahmad-Bawa, shared this information during an inter-ministerial press briefing held on Monday in Birnin Kebbi.
The briefing, organised by the Ministry of Information and Culture, sought to update the public on the significant achievements of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration under Governor Nasir Idris over the last three years.
Ahmad-Bawa explained that this investment includes the procurement and installation of more than 3,000 double-arm solar streetlight systems throughout the state capital, Birnin Kebbi, and in other major towns across Kebbi State.

“Other benefiting areas include GRA, Gesse Phase I, Gulumbe Road, Badariya, as well as community centres and traditional institutions in the metropolis.” He said.
The commissioner said further similar projects had been executed in Zuru, Argungu, Yauri, Augie, Bunza and Koko/Besse, noting that the programme is ongoing with plans for further expansion.
