The Kano State Government has said it has discovered the root cause of the recent violence that disrupted peace and tranquillity in the state and vowed to find lasting solutions to it.
The Director General of the Special Services Directorate, AVM Ibrahim Umar, made this known after meeting with leaders of warring thugs from Kofar Mata, Yakasai, Zango, and Fagge, and ward heads, at Kano Government House.
He stated that the activities of the thugs were believed to have been triggered by unemployment, drug abuse, and political motives, especially from members of the opposition political party who reside in Abuja.
AVM Umar disclosed that the leaders agreed to work under one umbrella to ensure the return of peace in these areas for the benefit of all.
He expressed gratitude to God Almighty that the thugs have realised they are being used by politicians who want to cause mayhem in the state and agreed to work with the present administration to ensure tranquillity in the state.
According to him, they also understood that causing trouble would not augur well for the economic growth of the state.
He stated further that the youth have collectively resolved to abandon thuggery to pursue developmental issues in the interest of their progress and that of the state.
AVM Umar advised them to renounce violence, tread the path of development, and assured them that the present government under Governor Yusuf would assist them in changing their lives positively.
He also told them that the state government would cover the medical bills of those who sustained injuries during the violence.
He called on the opposition political party to stop digging its grave by sponsoring violence, considering that 2027 is approaching and the electorate would only vote for a party that preaches peace, love, and tranquillity in the state.
Earlier, leaders of the opposing thugs, Jibrin Aminu Yakasai and Abdulrazak Sani Abdulkadir (Danmallam), agreed to end violence in the area.
They urged the government to provide job opportunities for the unemployed youths to make them useful members of society.
