The Kano State Executive Council has approved a total sum of N3,398,144,284.04 for the execution of various projects across the state.
Speaking to the press, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Waiya, stated that these projects include the maintenance of the School of Technology Road Network by KARMA at a cost of N148,956,921.00.
He also announced an additional advance payment for the expansion of Zaria Road (from Silver Jubilee – Dantata & Sawoe main yard) amounting to N367,977,860.98.
Additionally, the conversion of external electrical infrastructure to an underground system at Government House, Kano, and the relocation of 33 & 11kV lines along Ahmadu Bello Way (Power and Renewable Energy) will require N612,452,078.38.

The procurement of two ambulances for the Government House Clinic and Nuhu Bamalli Maternity Hospital will cost N184,000,000.00.
Waiya further disclosed that the settlement of bills to KEDCO for energy consumption in November/December 2024 (Water Resources) will be N348,207,982.32.
According to him, funds released for boarding school feeding for the 3rd, 4th, and 5th weeks of the ongoing second term of the 2024/2025 academic session amount to N662,528,919.36.
He also noted that compensation for the Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) implementation at the Bulbula/Gayawa erosion site under State Land and Physical Planning will cost N642,590,022.00.
Additionally, the payment of the remaining 50% of arrears for Hazard and Excess Workload Allowances to the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil, stands at N136,406,500.00.
Waiya emphasized that financial support to the Nigeria Union of Pensioners for the conduct of the Quadrennial Delegates Conference in Kano has been set at N100,000,000.00.
Furthermore, the counterpart funding for the supply of commodities under the Free Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health and Free Accident and Emergency Program Health is N195,024,000.00.
The council also approved policy decisions, including a 25% and 35% salary increment for academic and non-academic staff of tertiary institutions, respectively.
Additionally, it approved the creation of the Department of People with Disabilities under the Ministry of Women, Children, and Disabled Affairs and the transmission of the Kano State Health Trust Fund Law to the State House of Assembly for passage into law.
