Ijebu-Ode witnessed an unprecedented convergence of dignitaries, fans, and well-wishers as King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, laid his mother to rest in a ceremony fit for royalty. The town was transformed into a hub of celebration, prayer, and tributes since the news of the passage of Alhaja Sadiya Anifowoshe, 105, broke. People from far and near gathered to honour the life of the industrious woman.
K1, the Mayegun of Yorubaland, deeply revered as the Fuji music king, turned his hometown into a symbolic Mecca, hosting politicians, Islamic clerics, traditional rulers, entertainers, and influential figures, who came to pay their last respects.
With a condolence call from President Bola Tinubu, Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, and other prominent people, the Ojusagbola Mansion, Ijebu-Ode country home of the singer has become a beehive of activities, with the 7th day fidau prayers headlining the burial activities.
In his tribute, K1 described his late mother as his guiding light and a pillar of strength.
“Her love and sacrifices shaped my journey,” he said with a voice thick with emotion. The atmosphere was bittersweet, with both tears of mourning and moments of celebration for a life well-lived.
As Ijebu-Ode bustled with activities, the ceremony reaffirmed K1’s status not just as a Fuji maestro but as a son of the soil, whose roots remain deeply tied to his heritage.
