The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Jigawa State for the 2027 election, Mustapha Sule Lamido, has said the state still has significant development gaps to bridge despite its achievements in the 35 years since its creation.
Lamido, who is the Santurakin Dutse, made the observation in a goodwill message to the people of Jigawa State to mark the 35th anniversary of the state’s creation.
He said although Jigawa had recorded considerable progress over the years, more challenges remained to be addressed to enable the state to achieve its full potential in economic and social development.
According to him, “the state still has important development gaps to close and challenges to overcome in its quest to achieve its full potential.”
Lamido added that when compared with some other states, including those created around the same period, Jigawa still had “a huge task ahead”.
“Without doubt, we have come a long way over the years, and Jigawa has a lot of achievements to be proud of. But we still have more gaps to bridge and hurdles to cross in terms of where we aspire to be,” he said.

He acknowledged the significant progress recorded since the creation of Jigawa State, describing some of its achievements as worthy of celebration.
Lamido, however, called for greater unity, commitment and dedication among the people, stressing that collective efforts were needed to accelerate development and build a more prosperous state.
He urged the people to work together irrespective of political, social or other differences, saying unity remained critical to achieving the state’s aspirations.
The governorship candidate prayed for continued peace and prosperity in Jigawa and asked Allah to grant the people the unity, determination and commitment needed to make the state a shining example in Nigeria and beyond.
