Participants in the 2016 Christian pilgrimage to Israel have been admonished to live an exemplary life by internalising the Godly virtues they have acquired from the holy land during the pilgrimage exercise.
The Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, represented by the deputy governor, Chief Mrs Yetunde Onanuga, gave the admonition at the thanksgiving and certificate presentation ceremony organised by the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board at the Government House Chapel, Isale Igbein, Abeokuta.
Amosun said that the opportunity to embark on a pilgrimage to Israel was a rare one, hence pilgrims should take advantage of it, by allowing the values they have imbibed to in the holy land to reflect in their conduct and interaction with people around them.
“Christian pilgrimage is a life changing exercise, its impact can last for a life time “, he said
In his remarks, the chairman of the Board, Archbishop Oludotun Ogunseye expressed gratitude to God for a successful exercise, positing that the success of the exercise was due to the grace of God and the unflinching support of all stakeholders. He assured that the board would improve on the 2016 pilgrimage, this year.
In his sermon, the State Chairman of the Christians Association of Nigeria (CAN) Bishop Akin Akinsanya, represented by Bishop K. Onakoya, urged the pilgrims to demonstrate the godly virtues they had acquired in the holy land in their immediate environment.
Responding, some of the participants, Dr Abiodun Oladunjoye and Mr Isaac Oluwasegun Sowemimo promised to be agents of change as every knowledge garnered from the holy pilgrimage would be put to effective use.
