A fire outbreak has destroyed goods and property worth billions of naira at the popular poultry and foodstuff market in Olaleye, Shomolu area of Lagos state.
Tribune Online gathered no lives were lost to the inferno, nor injuries sustained as efforts are ongoing to ensure that the fire does not cause further havoc.
A statement issued by the image-maker of The Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA), Nosa Okunbor, said that the Fire Unit and officers of the Federal Fire Service are presently battling with the inferno.
“Upon arrival at the scene, it was discovered that Olaleye Market located at Shomolu was gutted by fire.
“No life was lost and no injuries sustained, but properties and goods whort several billions of naira is currently being razed down by the inferno.
“However investigations is currently ongoing to ascertain cause of fire.
“Lagos State Fire Service, LRU fire and the Federal Fire Service are currently battling the inferno and preventing it from spreading to other residential buildings,” he said.
