Members of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) have been advised to guard against impunity being orchestrated by a few members of the party as the general election draws nearer
National chairman of the party, Senator Ali-Modu Sheriff, gave the advice at the weekend, while speaking with newsmen at the residence of his deputy, Dr Cairo Ojougboh, in Agbor, Delta State.
Sheriff alleged that some members were working against the interest of the party so as to destroy it, adding that the development may rob the party of victory in the next general election.
“By the time we stop impunity and work for the collective interest of the party, PDP will win in 2019,” he added.
The former Borno governor said it was up to Nigerians to make up their minds on the composition of members of the party.
He said PDP remained the greatest party in Nigeria, nay Africa, adding that though there was no ship without a captain, it was dangerous to abandon a ship mid-sea.
He noted further that majority of PDP members were desirous of party’s unity, just as he added that anybody still working against the interest of the party had a hidden agenda to destroy it.
Earlier, Dr Ojougboh had condemned calls by PDP state governors for resignation of Sheriff, to pave the way for peace, saying such should not be discussed or entertained.
