NO fewer than nine human trafficking victims were rescued by the Jigawa State Command of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) at the Nigeria/Niger border road.
Comptroller of Immigration in the state, Alhaji Ismail Abba Aliyu, said the command has declared one Alhaji Ibrahim Kano suspected to be the human trafficking agent wanted.
According to the comptroller, the victims gave the name and mobile number of the suspect as the one who arranged their trip to the Niger Republic from their respective states through Kano.
The comptroller explained that “the victims are nine in number, eight were from South West and one from North Central.”
Alhaji Abba maintained that “they came to Kano individually from their various states, where they met and were put in a vehicle at the park in Kano by an agent called Alhaji Ibrahim Kano which conveyed them to Kazaure enroute Kwangolam, onward journey to Tripoli Libya via the Niger Republic.”
He added that: “The victims are six females and three males that fall within the age bracket of 20 to 29 years from different states. One from Ekiti, one from Benue, one Oyo, two from Lagos and the remaining four are from Ogun States.”
He futher explained that the Comptroller General of NIS, Muhammad Babandede has directed him to hand over the victims to NAPTIP.
