Chairman of Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Mr Sola Olominu, has commended the state governor, ‘Biodun Oyebanji over the ongoing construction of the 18-kilometre Ikole-Ara-Isinbode road.
Speaking shortly after on-the-spot assessment on the construction of the road, Olominu said the project was in line with Governor Oyebanji’s approval earlier in the year for the opening of the road as part of his commitment to spread dividends of democracy to all nooks and crannies of the state
He said the long awaited aspirations of the people of the area over the construction of the road that linking Ikole-Ara-Isinbode-Ekiti will soon be a reality, just as the governor continuing linking communities and villages across the state for even development as promised during his camping.
“We are grateful to our dear governor, he is a man of his words. He approved the opening of this road early this year, the work is going on well and our people are grateful.
“It is good to know that this ongoing project signpost Ekiti North senatorial district while that of ongoing Omisanjana-Ajebandele road construction represents that of Ekiti Central senatorial district and another ongoing road project at Ekiti South senatorial district. This makes the ongoing construction roads across the three senatorial districts of Ekiti State,” Olominu said.
Olominu further said that the project will be completed on time as the contractor handling assured him during their interactions.
The road which was first constructed by the administration of the former military governor of the then Western region of the late General Adeyinka Adebayo stopped at Ara-Ekiti and the shortlived administration of Chief Segun Oni awarded its construction to Isinbode-Ekiti and had since been abandoned over the years by succesiful administrations.
