Why are you leaving your comfort zone to go into politics?
I am not just poking my nose into politics. I have been in politics for close to 20 years. As a matter of fact, I am a graduate of OGD political school. I never changed party until recently when I decided to stand for what is right – that is, to fight and stand up for the Odogbolu Constituency and allow the right candidate of the people to stand for election. Also, that I am having a good life or having it good is not enough for me to exist when I realised that, I can, through my participation in politics bring relief to a whole gamut of Odogbolu people in general, not my family or close relations alone.
Do you think you can win on the platform of the Labour Party?
First, Labour Party is not an underdog party in Ogun State. It is a very popular party, more popular than some of those you are thinking of because it is a party with internal harmony, superb organisation, cohesion and determination to win at the poll. Some of the other parties are fragmented and chaotic with internal crisis and disorder. Labour Party is strong, solid and reliable.
Going by your political tutelage, your corporate experience and accomplishments, do you think these are enough for you to win?
You build something from nothing. All these are the fundamental foundations which I am building my political network on. Like I told you, I know and maintain a very close relationship with all the notable politicians in Ogun State. I also, by greater extension, know all political leaders of note in my constituency, this is a constituency which produced my parents, this is the same constituency which I have been relating with since the day I was born. This is the constituency which I have played politics in the last 20 years. I know my constituency very well and my constituency knows me. I have my network and group in all the units, wards and I relate with sectoral leaders here. I am on the ground. And I will win
How will your constituents benefit with you being their representative?
Of course, that is why I am going to the House of Assembly. Look, many people don’t understand the role of legislation in a democratic setting. Effective legislation is the bedrock of any good society. It is the pillar of democracy. I know and I understand the import. That is why I am going to the House to employ legislation in fighting for the development of Odogbolu Constituency. There are many areas which lack effective legislation. And where it exists, development will be truncated. I have done my homework and I know where the shoe pinches my constituency in terms of legislation. These areas will be fixed. First, I will ensure a review of some of these moribund laws which have strangulated upward progress. Some of them will be amended. I will also ensure the enactment of new laws especially, one that will ensure even distribution of commonwealth, infrastructure facilities and development.
I will also see to the enactment of precautionary law for trucks and articulated vehicles which ply our roads without tacking down the containers they convey that fall down causing tragedy within my constituency. Quality law made by quality legislators will ensure a qualitative and egalitarian society. This is what I am going to do at Ogun State House of Assembly for the people of Odogbolu Constituency under the platform of Labour Party. I assure that the votes for me are for quality, responsive and responsible legislation. Odogbolu Constituency development matters first on the table.
