Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie, has revealed how he received the beating of his life from his father the day he told the father that he wanted to stop schooling at the Junior Secondary School 2 (JSS2) and start selling electrical parts.
Yul, the son of another veteran Nollywood actor, Pete Edochie, disclosed that when he was a secondary school students and he saw how his age mates were making money as traders, he decided he did not want to go to school again and he wanted to also open shop and start selling electrical parts.
He was apparently referring to the trending video where a father in Zambia beat his son up for making distinction only in Music out of eight subjects after the father paid over $21,000 as school fees.
Yul Edochie disclosed on his twitter handle that on the fateful day, he went to his father and told him he did not want to go to school again as he has decided to be a trader, asking his father to open a shop for him to be selling the parts.’
On hearing this, the father invited Yul into his bedroom and thinking that the father wanted him to advise him on how to do well in the business he wanted to venture into, Yul excitedly followed him inside.
But to his shock, the father locked the door after he went in, removed a belt from his pair of trousers and beat the hell out of him and the dad telling him he was only interested in him completing his education.
According to Yul, “In JSS2, I told my father I didn’t want to go to school anymore, he should open electrical shop for me. He said ok. He Invited me to his room, locked the door and pulled out his belt.
“He gave me a beating that reset my brain to factory setting. Look at me today. Thank you Dad!
“Doing business is good, handwork is also good, but if you have the opportunity to add education to it, don’t miss it. Education is great.”
