Olamide Adedeji, who is fondly referred to as Olamide Baddo with the release of his latest album last week entitled ‘999’ has continued to stake claim that he is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to rap in the Nigerian music industry with many of his fans labelling him as the greatest rapper ever to come from the country.
The inspiration for ‘999 EP’ is believed to be drawn from the fact that it is Olamide’s ninth solo album in nine years which initially aired across nine stations before it was launched for public consumption.
With the album drawing much praise from fans and music lovers alike who lauded his consistency and ambition at a time when many artistes are still finding their feet in the new year, what appeared notable in the ‘999 EP’ is the number of up-and-coming artistes Olamide featured.
R gathered that almost all the six new acts featured on the album were discovered on social media via skits and short rap performances which impressed the 30-year old rapper.
Snow, Cheque and Rhatti got featured on ‘Warlords’ track alongside popular Igbo rapper Phyno while Jayboi was solely featured on the track ‘Mojo’. Sosa-E and Jackmillz contributed to ‘Dance with the devil’ with Jackmillz getting another feature on ‘Demons’.
The six new acts, from the reception the album has received, have been labelled by music enthusiasts as the new generation of rappers who could take the industry by storm in the coming years.
Following the break into limelight on Olamide’s album, R has learnt that a deal might be in the offing for the artistes to join Olamide’s Yahoo Boy No Laptop (YBNL) label to continue their career progress.
