Kidnappers have stormed Mayo Belwa town and abducted elder brother to former Adamawa State Governor, Murtala Hammanyero Nyako.
The gunmen whisked away a 90-year-old man, Alh. Dahiru Hammanyero Nyako who recently lost a brother late Isa Hammanyero Nyako.
Locals say the gunmen suspected to be Kidnappers struck in the midnight, firing shots to scare residents.
” They came in numbers firing gunshots to scare us in late midnight.

“All efforts to get security intervention to no avail, despite the presence of the Operation Farauta that consists of soldiers, police and civil defence corps.
“They (Gunmen) succeeded in whisking him away with no resistance, today the whole town is in an atmosphere of agony and despair,” said a local resident who doesn’t want his name mentioned.
Also corroborating a relative who simply identified herself as Shamsiyya said, ” Innalillahhiwa,innalilihi ilaihi raji,un , late-night they ( gunmen) have kidnapped our father Alhaji Dahiru Hammanyero Nyako.
In the meantime efforts to get the council chairman or Divisional Police Officer in charge of Mayo-Belwa, (DPO) have been futile.
