Some gunmen suspected to be armed robbers stormed the residence of a petrol dealer, Bode Dagunro, in Igbokoda, headquarters of Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, shot dead the middle-aged man and carted away N2million cash.
It was gathered that the armed men who arrived at the Olotu community via Ugbonla, Igbokoda around 9 pm shot the deceased in the stomach after collecting the money, leaving him in his pool of blood.
A family member, Malo Olorunwa Francis, who confirmed the incident explained that the armed men stormed the community and operated unhindered after taking the N2million from his brother.
He said, “They entered into the house attacked my brother and shot him in the stomach before moving away with the sum of N2million.
“My brother was a fuel marketer. We rushed him to a private hospital in Igbokoda where he later died during an operation to remove the bullets.
He, however, said the remains of the deceased had been deposited in a morgue at Igbokoda for autopsy while the incident was reported at the police station.
Meanwhile, a 62-year-old man, Moshood Lasisi, on Tuesday, committed suicide by hanging himself in his room in the Ayede Ogbese community in Akure North Local Government Area of the state.
Lasisi, whose body was found dangling on the roof of his room by his wife and children raised the alarm when they returned from the farm on Tuesday evening.
It was gathered that the deceased had been on crushes for some time and had been indoors, incapacitated for several months, decided to commit suicide for unknown reasons.
According to his wife, Lady Evangelist Victoria Lasisi, they decided to peep through the window after knocking on the doors severally with no response, only to find his husband body dangling on the ceiling.
She, however, said the man had died before help could reach him, saying it was glaring her husband arranged tables and stools to carry out the suicide.
Confirming the two incidents, the State Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO) Funmi Odunlami, said the preliminary investigation is in progress to track down the armed men who killed the petrol dealer and assured that hoodlums would be brought to book.
Odunlami said the details of the man who committed suicide is still sketchy but said the command will investigate to know and unravel the cause of the death.
