The son of a clan head of Ikpomolokpo in Gege ward of Ado local government area of Benue State was killed by gunmen who also abducted the daughter.
A native from the community told Tribune Online on the phone that some unknown gunmen stormed the residence of the clan head around 2:00 am on Monday.
The native said that sporadic gunshots woke residents of the community.
Confirming the attack on the community, Ado local government chairman, James Oche said that the attack occurred early hours of Monday.
According to him, “Some gunmen at about 2:00 am of today entered into the house of the clan head of Ipomolokpo through a fence and asked for the wife of the clan head from the son whose name is Thompson.
“The young man told them that he did not know the whereabouts of his mother and they shot him dead they now took the sister away,” the chairman said.
The council boss said that immediately he got wind of the attack alerted troops of Operation Whirl Stroke but regretted that before the troops could get to the place the gunmen had escaped to Atiga forest around Okpokwu LG.
“As I am talking to you now, the troops are on their trail.
Efforts to get the reaction of the spokesman of Operation Whirl Stroke, Hussaini Audu were not successful as he claimed to be in a meeting when called.
Also, the State Command Public Relations Officer, Catherine Anene, deputy superintendent of police did not pick her call.
