The Say No to Violence in Ebiraland (SNTVE), a prominent peace advocacy group in the Kogi Central Senatorial District, has strongly condemned the recent armed attack on the family residence of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
In a statement released on Friday, the group called on the Inspector General of Police and other security agencies to conduct a swift and thorough investigation to identify and prosecute those responsible.
SNTVE characterized the assault as a deliberate and coordinated act by dangerous elements aiming to destabilize the region. They warned that such violence poses a significant threat not only to Senator Natasha and her family but also to Nigeria’s fragile democratic foundations.
“This shocking display of violence reflects the rising insecurity in our country. It directly endangers the life of Senator Natasha and undermines the democratic principles we strive to uphold,” the statement read.
Speaking for the group, Hon. Abdulrazak O. Mamman voiced strong concern over the incident, stressing the importance of a comprehensive investigation.
“We urge the Inspector General of Police and top security officials to ensure those responsible are swiftly brought to justice. Accountability is crucial to restoring faith in our security system,” Mamman said.
SNTVE also praised Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan for her steadfastness, courage, and commitment to truth, highlighting her resilience in the face of persistent intimidation.
“We commend Senator Natasha’s courage and her dedication to justice. Despite mounting challenges, she continues to stand firm, and we encourage her to remain focused,” the group added.
The organization affirmed the unwavering support of the Ebiraland community for the senator and pledged to stand by her during this troubling period.
They further called on the federal government and relevant security bodies to immediately enhance protective measures around Senator Natasha and her family to prevent future attacks.
“We urge all patriotic Nigerians to denounce this appalling act and demand immediate action. Protecting those who dare to speak truth to power is vital to the future of our democracy,” the statement concluded.
The attack has triggered widespread condemnation across Kogi State and beyond, fueling growing calls for urgent federal action to address the rise in politically motivated violence.
