Barely 24 hours after Nigeria’s national grid collapsed, electricity generation companies (GenCos) have energised the distribution companies with 3,640MW on Thursday.
The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) had said on Wednesday, shortly after the incident, that restoration of power to the grid was ongoing.
The operator in a statement described the system collapse as a disturbance, attributed the cause to the tripping of a GenCo, resulting in a significant load drop that cascaded to other GenCos, leading to a system disturbance.
