Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum has donated 100 bags of rice, 100 bags of beans, 50 kegs of 50 litres of vegetable oil and 10 cows to the 2023 Batch ‘C’ Stream1 Corps members deployed to the state.
He made the donation while delivering his address at the swearing-in ceremony of the Corps members held at the temporary orientation camp in Government Secondary School, Maiduguri on Tuesday.
The governor who spoke through the State’s Head of Service, Barrister Mallam Fannami, stressed that his administration places a high priority on the security and welfare of the Corps members, hence the donations.
To this end, he urged Corps members to utilise the opportunities provided through the three weeks orientation course to settle down in their host communities and contribute their quota to the development of Borno State.
While addressing Corps members at the swearing-in ceremony, the NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed, warned Corps members against embarking on unauthorized and night journeys.
He advised that they learn the culture of their host communities and integrate with them.
“Work hard, don’t waste your time but remain focused. Ensure you get approval from NYSC if it’s compulsory that you travel,” the DG said.
On his part, the NYSC Borno State Coordinator, Mr Adamu Jiya said the Corps members have adjusted to camp activities.
He lauded the State Government for its commitment to the success of NYSC activities, especially since the resumption of orientation course in the state.
A total of 824 Corps members comprising 489 males and 335 males were registered.
