GOVERNOR Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has sworn in Abubakar Musa Kigera as the Grand Khadi of the state’s Sharia Court of Appeal.
At a ceremony at the Government House, Minna, Governor Bello, expressed confidence in the capability of Musa Kigera to carry out his duties diligently.
“I have no doubt in my mind that we have a capable Grand Khadi, I know that you have been through storms in the performance of your duty and execution of justice in the state. Allah has made it possible for you today to become the Grand Khadi of the state. We will continue to pray for Allah’s guidance and protection for you,” he said.
The governor pledged his support to ensure that the Grand Khadi succeeds in his duty.
In a remark, Kigera expressed his readiness to build on the achievements of his predecessors.
He appreciated the support of the governor; the acting Chief Judge, Justice Halima Ibrahim Abdulmalik; the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Nasara Dan-Mallam as well as the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) for their support, pointing out that he would discharge his duty justly, fairly and with equity.
The Emir of Borgu, Alhaji Muhammad Haliru Dantoro, called on the new Grand Khadi to continue to embody the qualities of his profession which have earned him the position.
Kigera had been sworn in as the Grand Khadi in July 2021 in acting capacity.
