Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has approved the immediate release of additional N550 million for payment to state retirees in a determination to settle the backlog of gratuity of retired civil servants in the state.
The Governor consequently directed all relevant agencies and personnel to commence the process of payment to the affected retirees with immediate effect to enable them enjoy the Yuletide period.
With the latest payment, the Governor has further demonstrated his commitment to the welfare of all retired and serving Civil Servants in the state, whom he said deserved a dignified life both in service and retirement, hence the approval of the funds.
It will be recalled that this is the second time the Governor is releasing funds for payment of the backlog of gratuity of workers who retired from the civil service.
In August, Inuwa Yahaya approved the release of N1.1 billion for payment to 504 state retirees, who left the service in 2014.

In the meantime, all verified persons or dependants as the case may be are to come to the Treasury Headquarters as from Wednesday, 11th December along with the following documents; Approved Pension Computation Sheet, Bank Verification Number (BVN), Identification Card (ID Card) and Letter of Administration in case of death benefits as contained in a statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity to the Governor.
Meanwhile, Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya will present the 2020 appropriations bill ( Budget) to the Gombe state House of Assembly on Monday, 9th December 2019 by 12 noon at the state Assembly chambers.
It will be recalled that the Governor had earlier held a town hall/ stakeholders’ consultative meeting on the budget proposal at the School of Nursing Hall (Jewel Hall) as part of his administration’s inclusive governance policy, with community leaders, trade union members, civil society and faith-based organisations as well as the general public in attendance as contained in a statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity to the Governor.
