Gombe state Governor, Muhammdu Inuwa Yahaya has flagged- off the issuance of ATM cards to beneficiaries of the Public Workfare (PWF) and Special Grant Transfer (SGT) of the Youth Employment and Social Support Operations (YESSO) in Akko and Billiri Local Government Areas of the state.
While speaking at the venues of both flag-off, the Governor said that his administration has been able to align the YESSO intervention programme with Gombe Goes Green (3G), an initiative designed to conserve the environment and provide jobs to teeming the youth, women and other vulnerable members of the society.

Inuwa Yahaya also said that the major thrust of the programme is to improve the living condition of the vulnerable by improving their skills and increasing their access to immediate work opportunities through the provision of general social services and strengthening of social safety net in the state.
He added that in the last six months, his administration has enrolled 27,000 beneficiaries across the 11 local government areas of the state, adding that with the flag-off of the Gombe Goes Green, the beneficiaries will be deployed to the 3G programme to nurture the trees.
The Governor disclosed that each of the beneficiaries will be paid a monthly allowance of N7,500 with five months arrears to cover the period since the commencement of the programme.
Inuwa Yahaya then congratulated the beneficiaries and charged them to be dutiful in their new task of ensuring that they nurture the trees to maturity.
The National Coordinator of YESSO, Hajiya Hajara Sami who was represented by Gombe State Coordinator of the programme, Mr Michael Habila lauded the Inuwa Yahaya led administration for aligning its 3G initiative with YESSO, which he said has so far produced remarkable results.
The Governor took time off and visited the Government Girls Science Secondary School Kumo in Akko and Poshiya Community in Billiri Local Government Areas respectively where he planted trees as a demonstration of his commitment to the 3G project and encouraged the people to imbibe the culture of planting and nurturing them as contained in a statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity to the Governor.
