Gombe builds N500m snake hospital

GOMBE state government has built a N500m snake hospital at Kaltungo in its effort to give succor to the victims of the snake bites which has become rampant in some communities in the state.

This was disclosed by the state commissioner for Health, Dr Ishaya Keneedy in an interview with Tribune Online in Gombe.

He said the newly constructed hospital has a 250 bed space and can accommodate upto 150 patients at a time.

Already, he disclosed that facilities and furniture had been procured and there are being fixed in order to ensure its starts operations in earnest.

According to him, medical personnel like doctors and nurses would also be deployed to the hospital soon.

Apart from that, the commissioner also started that the state specialist hospital is being upgraded to the status of a Teaching hospital.

He also said that the state was not seriously affected with the shortage of medical doctors as they are at least two doctors managing each of the 22 government hospitals across the state.

He also said, ‘At the moment we have about 100 medical students pursuing medicine in some universities across the country.
